Proper disposal of hazardous materials is costly and requires specialized handling to ensure environmental and community safety.

To ensure we can continue fulfilling our mission of helping neighbors in need we cannot accept the following

No liquids
No batteries

Why We Cannot Accept Batteries or Liquids as Donations
For safety and environmental reasons, St. Vincent de Paul of Washington County is unable to accept batteries or liquid products as donations.
Many batteries—especially lithium-ion and rechargeable batteries—can pose serious fire and safety risks if damaged, improperly stored, or exposed to heat. Batteries may also contain hazardous materials that require specialized recycling and disposal procedures to comply with environmental regulations.
Liquids such as cleaners, chemicals, paints, fuels, oils, aerosols, and partially used household products can leak, spill, or release harmful fumes during handling and storage. These items may damage other donations, create unsafe working conditions, or require special disposal procedures due to environmental and safety regulations.
Because we are not equipped to safely store, transport, test, or dispose of these materials, accepting them could create risks for our staff, volunteers, customers, and facilities. We encourage community members to utilize local hazardous waste collection sites or approved recycling programs that are specifically equipped to safely handle these items.
Washington County residents may take their hazardous waste to Veolia.

Mondays and Wednesdays from 11am-6pm
